2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E vs. the Competition
The Mustang Mach-E has been a big success for Ford, immediately becoming one of the best-selling electric vehicles in America on its debut. But, it isn’t the only electric vehicle out there, and you might be wondering what sets it apart so much that it became such a hit with customers in the first place. For that, we’re going to need to take a closer look at how the competition measures up.

The most obvious starting place to start is comparing the Mach-E to Chevrolet’s electric performance SUV, the Blazer EV. The Blazer EV starts off more expensive than the Mach-E, but the performance-oriented RS trim is very close in both price and range to the Mustang Mach-E GT. But, even though the blacked-out grille and flat-bottom steering wheel of the Blazer EV suggest serious performance, it would be a stretch to say it’s even in the same league as the Mach-E GT when it comes to power output. The difference in power is all the more egregious given the nearly identical price and range, meaning you don’t have to compromise for that power. The Mach-E scores additional points in the practicality department, thanks to the advantage of more cargo space in the back. Stopping comes quickly in the Mach-E as well, thanks to the Brambo performance brakes. Chevrolet recognizes the value of these brakes; you can get a set of Brembo brakes for the Blazer EV, but only on the significantly more expensive SS trim.
If you were thinking that the Blazer EV would make up for its lack of power with better equipment, you’re in for a surprise. The stereo system is a good example of this, while the Mach-E comes with a B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen featuring B&O® Beosonic with 10 speakers, the Blazer EV just has a generic 6-speaker system. There is a premium stereo available for the Blazer EV, but it isn’t available for the RS trim and still has fewer speakers than the system in the Mach-E GT. Adaptive suspension is great for giving you the best possible ride across a wide range of circumstances, which is great for a vehicle that can be used for either performance driving or daily commuting. Such a system is standard in the Mach-E, but unavailable for the Blazer EV. The Mach-E also has both front and rear parking sensors, for another win in the practicality department. And when you want to relax and cruise on the highway, Ford’s hands-free BlueCruise is standard on the Mach-E GT. Chevrolet has a similar system, called Super Cruise, but it’s a $4,650 option. In all, the difference between the Mustang Mach-E and the Blazer EV is the difference between a genuine performance machine and one that merely looks like one.

To show the practical side of the Mustang Mach-E, we’re comparing it to the Subaru Solterra, as Subaru is a brand that’s known for making practical vehicles. Pricing is again quite similar, and so is range. But range alone is only part of the story. You don’t just get a bit more with the Mach-E; you can also replenish that range much quicker. You can also opt for the extended range battery in the Mach-E, which increases range to 300 miles, while no such option is available for the Solterra. This obviously makes the Mach-E a better road trip vehicle, and the fact that it also has a larger cargo capacity adds to that even more. And then there’s power output, where yet another competitor falls well short of the Mach-E. The Mach-E might have an unusually impressive power output, but it should also be said that the Solterra is unusually underpowered for this segment and price range.
Subaru base models have a tendency to be aggressively austere, and the Solterra is no exception. Most electric vehicles these days come with integrated navigation as standard, with systems designed with EV-specific functions that make it easier to do things like find public chargers. The Mach-E is one of the ones that has this, while the Solterra does not. You can use phone mirroring for navigation in the Solterra, but the screen is still quite small, more in keeping with what you would have found in a car a decade ago. The Solterra also has manually adjustable front seats, which is also certainly unusual in this price range. And lastly, both vehicles come with emergency roadside assistance coverage included in the price, but the Mach-E comes with two more years of it.

For our last comparison, we’re looking at the ID.4, Volkswagen’s lowest-priced EV. That said, the ID.4 still starts at a higher price than the Mach-E, but the Mach-E Premium with all-wheel drive and the extended battery is almost exactly the same price, making it the perfect example of how much further your money goes with the Ford. Once again, we can see that the Mach-E comes with more power, more than enough to notice. The Mach-E gets a bit more range, too, not a huge difference, but when you consider that it’s coupled with more power and essentially the same price, it’s clear that the Mach-E has a far superior drivetrain. That includes the drivetrain configuration as well, since the same money at Volkswagen isn’t enough to upgrade to AWD. Most of the automotive industry has moved away from drum brakes, as they tend to overheat and lose braking power pretty quickly, thanks to the enclosed design. But they are cheap to manufacture, which is a plus for Volkswagen, if not for Volkswagen customers.
Inside, you’ll find more legroom in the Mach-E, for both front and back seats. You’ll also once again find a superior stereo in the Mach-E. There is a premium stereo for the ID.4, but it only comes standard on the top trim, which adds more than $12,000 to the price. The Mach-E has a customizable digital gauge cluster too, giving you easy access to important information. There is a driver information screen in the ID.4 as well, but it lacks the size and versatility of the one in the Ford. Much like the stereo, a 360-degree camera is also something that comes standard on the Mach-E Premium, but requires you to upgrade to the top trim to have it on the ID.4. And lastly, Ford once again offers more roadside assistance coverage than competitors.
Winner - Ford Mustang Mach-E
The Mustang Mach-E is an exciting vehicle, offering performance that far exceeds that of its competitors. But what makes it truly remarkable is the outstanding value for money that it represents. Vehicles that perform this much better than competitors usually cost more as well, but that’s not the case with the Mach-E. It wins on comfort and practicality too, making for an impressively versatile vehicle that can serve whatever function you throw at it. Let Sarchione Ford of Randolph help you find a Mustang Mach-E that fits your needs.
