Ford has made a wide variety of Mustang variants over the years, but none have ever been as massive a shakeup as the Mustang Mach-E. This all-electric crossover with sports car proportions delivers all of the excitement that the Mustang name suggests but in a totally new way. It does a sub-4-second dash from 0 to 60 and the MagneRide Damping System lets you carve corners with vigor. This mix of crossover, performance machine, and EV means that you don’t have to compromise anything to get what you want in a vehicle. The interior is comfortable and spacious, with an emphasis on the incredible technology that went into making the Mach-E. The all-electric drivetrain offers an impressive maximum range of 320 miles or you can select the Performance Upgrade and experience the thrills of 480 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. Combining the exhilaration and efficiency of an EV with the versatility of an SUV, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is a bold new way to hit the streets.
“Roughly the same size as a Ford Escape, the Mustang Mach-E blends typical SUV proportions with some characteristic Mustang styling details. It's also sporty enough to give credence to its Mustang badge. It handles sharply, accelerates quickly, and has enough interior space and electric range to make it a pleasing, family-friendly daily driver.” – Edmunds
“The Mustang Mach-E is a well-rounded electric vehicle with impressive range figures and some excellent tech, but also a sense of familiarity and heritage unavailable elsewhere in the segment. We like the way it looks and the way it drives, including the way it drives itself. Ford’s excellent hands-free driving system — BlueCruise — is just one of several tech highlights available in the Mustang Mach-E.” – Kelley Blue Book
The all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E benefits from a long list of key changes and updates for the 2024 model year. For 2024, all Mustang Mach-E models are now compatible with the established Tesla Supercharger network of public fast charging stations. In terms of powertrain improvements, the Mustang Mach-E also receives a lighter-weight rear motor that delivers more torque along with expanded battery pack capacities that add between 10 and 20 miles of driving range depending on the trim level.
Last year’s GT Performance trim has been dropped from the lineup in favor of a standalone Performance Upgrade option package offered on GT models. Taking its place is an all-new Rally model that includes a stripe package, rear spoiler, white alloy wheels, and rally-inspired exterior design cues. Concluding the list of changes to the 2024 Mustang Mach-E are some tweaks to the standard infotainment software including revised menu structures and new button icons.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E brings some excitement to the world of crossovers. Not just with its blisteringly fast performance, but also with its unique styling. The bodywork incorporates a number of classic Mustang elements, like the sequential taillights, together with sleek and modern crossover styling. The long hood, a Mustang feature since the beginning, covers a front storage compartment with 4.7 cubic feet of storage space. It’s also waterproof and has a drain plug so it can be used as a cooler. The back seat has more space than you’re used to finding in a performance machine and behind the back seats is a generous 29.7 cubic feet of cargo space. That’s quite a lot for any crossover in this segment. Stylish 19-inch wheels come standard and wheels up to 20 inches are available. LED exterior lighting rounds off the modern look, not to mention the added bonus of making it easier to see in the dark.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is available with either a Standard Range or Extended Range battery pack and in either RWD or eAWD. Depending on the setup, horsepower ratings range from 264 to 480. Since eAWD gets power to all four wheels by adding a second electric motor, configurations equipped with it produce more power, as do configurations with the Extended Range battery. This being an electric vehicle, torque numbers are even higher, ranging from 387 lb-ft to 700 lb-ft. The GT Performance Upgrade option package comes with 480 horsepower, 700 lb-ft of torque, and can hit 60 MPH from a dead stop in just 3.2 seconds. The Mustang Mach-E can even deliver a maximum total driving range of up to 320 miles. But whichever setup you go with, DC fast charging is available, making it possible to go from 10 to 80 percent charge in 32.3 minutes. A full charge from 0% on a home 240V charger takes approximately 10.9 hours.
The interior of the Ford Mustang Mach-E puts a strong emphasis on technology. The fully digital 10.2-inch gauge cluster is customizable as is the color of the LED ambient lighting. The Mustang Mach-E comes with Ford’s SYNC® 4 infotainment system which features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and is controlled via a huge 15.5-inch vertically-mounted touchscreen that makes things like reading maps extra easy. You can also use it to control the stereo, including the available B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen® with 10 speakers including subwoofer. There is a 360-degree camera for negotiating tight spaces along with other electronic aids like Intersection Assist which looks out for oncoming traffic even in situations where your view is obscured. And most advanced of all is the semi-autonomous BlueCruise 1.2 which allows for hands-free driving on 130,000 miles of prequalified divided highways.
