2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty vs. the Competition Side-by-Side

Ford F-250 Super Duty vs. the Competition - Sarchione Ford of Randolph

For the last 47 years, the best-selling family of trucks in the US has been the Ford F-series. So, when shopping for a heavy-duty pickup, the F-250 is a natural choice to be at the top of your list. But a conscientious shopper would still wonder what it is that makes the Super Duty such a popular choice, and how it stacks up to the competition. That’s why we’ve put together this guide, so you can see just why the F-250 is such a smart choice.

Ford F-250 VS The Competition - By The Numbers

F-250 Super Duty vs. Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD vs Ram 2500 vs Nissan Titan XD
Ford F-250 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Ram 2500 Nissan Titan XD
Starting MSRP* $44,970 $43,400 $45,250 $46,040
Max Available Horsepower 500 470 410 400
Max Available Torque 1,200 lb-ft 975 lb-ft 850 lb-ft 413 lb-ft
Max Towing 23,000 pounds 22,500 pounds 19,990 pounds 11,050 pounds
Max Payload 4,268 pounds 3,975 pounds 4,000 pounds 2,360 pounds

In the interest of fairness, we should point out that the Nissan Titan XD is the most expensive option, despite offering the least power and capacity, because it comes with a standard crew cab, which the rest do not. And in the interest of accuracy, we should point out that, for most of the trucks here, the engine option that comes with the most horsepower also comes with the most torque, but not the Ram 2500. For the Ram, the gasoline engine has the most horsepower and the diesel option has the most torque, so you’ll have to choose which matters more to you.

The chart shows that the F-250 gives you more of everything that you want in a heavy-duty pickup, more power, and more capability. And even though a couple of the competing trucks aren’t too far behind in towing or payload capacity, they are lower on power to the point where they’ll struggle more hauling the same weight. Making it even easier to handle heavy payloads or towing is the F-250’s 10-speed automatic transmission. While the Silverado 2500 HD also has a 10-speed transmission, the Titan XD only offers 9 speeds, and the Ram 2500 has to make do with 8.

2024 North American Truck of The Year 2024

Ford F-250 Awards

While some automotive awards are bestowed on a whole slew of vehicles every year, only one truck can win the North American Truck of The Year. For 2024, that truck was the Ford Super Duty, the fourth consecutive win for Ford trucks. With a total of 12 North American Truck of The Year awards, Ford has far more wins than any other brand, it’s not even close.

J.D. Power Most Dependable Large Heavy Duty Pickup 2024

J.D. Power has long been a trusted and important data aggregator in the automotive world, as their exhaustive research tells us a lot about how vehicles work in the real world. And one thing that certainly works is the Ford Super Duty, which claimed the title of Most Dependable Large Heavy Duty Pickup for 2024, based on data gathered over the last three years. Capability is certainly important, but a truck that’s ready to work when you are is also hugely important, and that truck is the Ford Super Duty.Paragraph goes here

Incredible Tech

The F-250 doesn’t just handle tough jobs with ease, it also makes those jobs easier on you. That’s thanks to tech features like available built-in bed scales, that not only make sure you’re not overloading the truck, but also help make sure the weight of your cargo is evenly distributed, and won’t create a problem while driving. Ford pioneered the “tailgate down camera,” a backup camera that is still usable while the tailgate is down, a position that points the backup camera straight at the ground on competing trucks. The SYNC® 4 infotainment system has a 12-inch touchscreen that makes navigating easy, and the Trailer Navigation System plans routes that avoid sharp turns and low bridges, so that unforeseen circumstances don’t leave you stuck. And for those days when circumstances do mean that you’ve got to spend the night in the truck, there are available Max Recline seats, which tilt back to the point of being almost completely flat, making for a much more comfortable sleeping surface.

Winner - Ford F-250

Whatever you need to use your pickup for, the F-250 is going to handle it better than the competition. The engines offered for the F-250 include best-in-class power ratings for both gasoline and diesel engines. Thanks to this power, you can haul bigger payloads or tow a bigger trailer with the F-250, and the technology included makes it all easy. Let Sarchione Ford of Randolph show you why the F-250 is a huge hit with buyers and critics alike.
